VOICE Membership Terms & Conditions

VOICE is a lively and creative organization, established as a mechanism to harness the immense experience and collective wisdom of the public at scale to capture ideas, insights and vision. We welcome and will actively encourage members to get involved in discussion and debate on a range of topics by contributing in person and through the VOICE Digital Platform.

VOICE Head Office is based within The University of Newcastle upon Tyne, trading as Newcastle University, therefore any references to ‘VOICE’ or ‘We’ refer to VOICE Head Office and Newcastle University.

By becoming a member of VOICE, you agree to these terms and conditions.

Data Protection

WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT ABOUT YOU

  • We collect information about you when you register with VOICE. We will never share your personal information with anyone outside of VOICE without your permission unless we are specifically required to by law or a clear safeguarding issue is identified. All the personal information that you provide is stored securely.

  • In order to register for some opportunities you may be requested to volunteer further information, we always aim for this to be proportional and relevant to the purpose for which it’s being collected.

  • VOICE works with other collaborators who utilise the VOICE Digital Platform to advertise opportunities. We will only share select data with these collaborators with your express permission, for instance, when you register interest in an opportunity organised by a collaborator and they ask you for certain details. We will endeavour to make it clear which part of the organisation is running an activity, e.g. through the contact point on an opportunity.

  • All VOICE membership passwords are encrypted. This means that even if someone could get access to where it’s kept, it can’t be read. Your password can never be read by another person: only you can know what it is.

HOW WILL WE USE THE INFORMATION ABOUT YOU?

We collect information about you to manage your VOICE member account, personalise your use of, and repeat visits to, the VOICE digital platform. We also use this information to notify you of relevant opportunities, news and blogs we think you may be interested in.

VOICE works with Collaborators across the globe in order to provide Members with a breadth of opportunities to get involved and to increase the reach and scale of activities. We will never share your personal information with anyone outside of VOICE (including any Collaborator organisations) without your express permission unless we are specifically required to by law or a clear safeguarding issue is identified.

In becoming a VOICE Member, there is no obligation to take part in any activity and any information requested in addition to the core joining details will be given entirely at your discretion. We will always endeavour to ensure that any information requested is relevant and proportional to the activity it is being requested for and make sure that it is clear to you which part of the organisation you are granting access to this data to.

We will undertake to ensure that, wherever possible, anyone wishing to take part in VOICE activities has an equal opportunity to participate.
