Aim

After conducting an internal consultation and research into key data and trends, a national housing provider has reformed their service offering document, outlining their commitment to residents and the service they can expect.

NICA is looking to gather feedback on this new service offering from people interested in renting a retirement property in the future and/or be looking to find a retirement property for their loved ones. These insights will then help influence the development of the service offering.

In this workshop, we will explore the services / technology devices you or your loved ones would expect to see as standard and what would excite you or your loved ones.

We are also aiming to understand what products you or your loved ones would like to see implemented which would contribute to the needs and requirements you may have. This can include anything that will support and ensure you can live life to your fullest with little to no barriers whilst simultaneously providing peace of mind to family and friends.

We are also wanting to discuss your thoughts on what role culture and communities should play in these retirement properties, as well as your individual thoughts and aspirations on retirement.

Hello Rachel,

I couldn't agree more with Ray! I'm just out of the age range considered and it seems silly and very unfair as I have a lot of good ideas and a great deal of interest in that topic as I'm starting to think considering a retirement property so I'd very much like to be considered and I'm sure you'd very much appreciate my ideas and thoughts.

Is it still possible to be considered and receive the Zoom link please Rachel? I really hope so!

Many thanks,
Kind regards,
Carrol Lamouline

Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate you taking the time to share.

This set of workshops is part of a wider project, with previous workshops having involved a range of people at different life stages and decision-making. This phase now seeks the views of a tighter and younger demographic as the company conducts further research.

I hope this provides some clarity and again thank you for your feedback.

The volunteer restrictions appear to be both ageist and unreasonably narrow.

By ruling out people who may have just retired, not currently living in rented accommodation, this 'research' workshop is closing out a massive slice of the very people who may be looking at moving to a purpose retirement development in a time period that may be 1 year or 10+ years; these are people who will have possibly the best ideas of what they want in a retirement property.

Why would the provider consider that an under 55-year-old would know what a 65+-year-old relative wants, or would like in their choice of retirement living? Indeed it is entirely possible that the <55-year-old may change their today's aspirations, outlook, needs and wishes for their future requirements after another 10 - 20 years!

Perhaps would be a good idea to go back to the drawing board and rethink the criteria.

Hello Rachel,  thank you for your response to my recent comment, your explanation is noted.
However, it would have been useful perhaps if the information you have now imparted had been included in the opportunity outline.

A read-through of the background shows that the information only mentions an 'internal consultation', somewhat different to 'is part of a wider project, with previous workshops having involved a range of people at different life stages and decision-making.'

But that's just me picking holes.
