Are you interested in research involving the design, utility and cost-effectiveness of new diagnostic tests in the NHS? We have an exciting opportunity to become a member of our Lay Advisory Group.
The NIHR London In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) Cooperative are an academic group based within the NHS. We collaborate widely with industry and research groups to develop safe, user-friendly and cost-effective diagnostic devices for use by the NHS. We are particularly interested in tests that are portable/handheld tests that give rapid results (point of care), which can transform patient experiences and their quality of lives.
We are looking for members who could provide critical and constructive feedback to join our Lay Advisory Group. You will attend meetings quarterly, review research documents and be an active member of our Lay Advisory Group. By sharing your experience as patient/carer, you will help to ensure the patient voice is represented and considered as part of our decision-making. Topics covered may include Cancer, Infection, Metabolic Medicine, Primary Care, Respiratory and Biomarkers (a measurable indicator of some biological state or condition).
This opportunity is open to anyone living in England with the following knowledge and skills:
No prior experience needed - suitable for people new to public involvement in research.
By acting as a Lay Advisor, your role will be to:
Lay Advisory Group meetings will likely be held at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London, 3-4 times per year. You should therefore be comfortable travelling to this location.
Attending meetings remotely via teleconference can be considered on agreed circumstances.

Priority will be given to establishing a diverse group of people who bring a wide range of experience and perspectives.
