Test and give feedback on a mobile app for recording and visualising symptoms of chronic conditions.
The aim of this project is to develop a better understanding of how people with chronic conditions recall and describe their symptoms, and use information to help manage their condition. This can be with family members, friends, medical professionals and/or with other people with similar conditions or symptoms through online communities.
An app is being developed to record and visualise symptoms of chronic conditions. It is currently being trialled with different users to identify and address any problems before it is officially launched.
We would like to hear from people of all ages who have been diagnosed with a chronic (long term) condition and may experience changes in their symptoms from day to day, for example pain and fatigue.
You must have an Android phone and be prepared to download and use the Chronic Insights App to record your symptoms and experiences.
First you will be asked to attend a one hour one to one interview to describe your condition and associated symptoms and day to day experience. The interview can help with downloading the app onto your phone.
You will then be asked to use the app to record your symptoms over a 3 week period. You will also be asked to complete a paper diary of your experience of using the app.
After the 3 week period is over, you will be asked to attend another one hour interview to give your feedback on using the app and to discuss your data you have recorded.
The first set of interviews will take place during the week commencing 26th August 2019. The second set of interviews will take place during the week commencing 23rd September 2019.
Interviews will be held at the Biosphere, Draymans Way, Newcastle Helix.
You will receive a voucher for taking part and travel expenses will be reimbursed.
