An opportunity to be on the selector panel for future doctors.

  • Public/Patient Representative
  • Influence

Selecting the right candidates to study medicine and become doctors of the future is a hugely important role. This role is carried out by a dedicated and committed group of selectors. For selection this year, we are looking to increase the number of selectors we have and we are looking for VOICE volunteers to contribute to this and expand our role of selectors.

Volunteer Criteria

This year, we are particularly keen to expand our selector pool with VOICE volunteers who are working in or who have had experience of any of the following areas:

  • Teachers and other professional staff who are involved in the Newcastle Medical degree
  • Healthcare or related professions (public or voluntary sector)
  • Roles in Education – this can be at any level e.g. school, university and would include those involved directly in teaching, careers advice or administrative roles that support of teaching
  • Volunteers from any professional background

What will I be asked to do?

You will be asked to attend a 1.5 hour selector training session. You will then be asked to commit to at least one 4 hours selection session. The interview sessions will comprise of two sets of seven x seven minute interviews.

When and where?

The dates are spread throughout December, January and February. The locations will be at Newcastle University.
