NIHR BioResource National Focus Group

An opportunity to be a member of the national focus group for NIHR BioResource.

The NIHR BioResource is a national initiative made up of thirteen sites across the UK. The project is built up of thousands of volunteers, both with and without health problems, who are willing to be approached to participate in research studies investigating the links between genes, the environment and health and disease.

The NIHR BioResource is looking to set up a national focus group of lay members who will help in the development of the project by providing advice and feedback. 

Volunteer Criteria

This opportunity is open to anyone who is interested in being involved.

The meetings will be held in London so you will need to be able to travel. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.

What will I be asked to do?

You will be asked to attend 2 meetings per year in London. In the meetings you will be given the opportunity to provide your thoughts, ideas and feedback about the NIHR BioResource.

Further details on what each meeting will involve will be provided ahead of the focus group.

When and where?

Meetings will take place in London. Exact dates, times and location will be confirmed at a later stage.

Will I get anything for taking part?

Travel and expenses on the day will be reimbursed.

    There are three modules on the Involve website in regard to Patients and Public involvement in research. These are

    Module 1.Introduction to the National Institute for Health Research and patient and public involvement in research.

    Module 2.Introduction to Public Reviewing Roles and Skills.

    Module 3.How to review research documents from a patient and public pont of view.
