The Elders Council of Newcastle is delighted to be able to offer you an opportunity to find out about two exciting new developments aimed at improving our quality of life. The sessions will take place on:

Friday 4th August 2017 at the Agriculture Building (AGRB 3.02) Newcastle University.

You are welcome to attend one or both of the sessions:

10:20am-12:30pm - hAPPICares

hAPPiCares is an innovative mobile app designed for older people, their friends, families and carers. It combines several daily assistive features proving peace of mind and promoting independent living. hAPPICares has been developed by two aspiring PhD graduates from Northumbria University. 12:30-1:30pm - light lunch

1:30-4:00pm - Ticket to Talk

Ticket to talk is a project aimed at developing supportive technology to help younger people talk to older relatives or friends who have a diagnosis of dementia.  The project developed from conversations with young carers who identified difficulties in maintaining conversations with older relatives or friends with dementia, as often they didn’t know what topics would be interesting because they sometimes lacked shared interests o experiences.  Ticket to Talk has been developed by a researcher at Open Lab, Newcastle University. Click here to find out more, along with links to download the app on iOS and Android.
