Fitness and well-being mobile phone app development

An opportunity to share your ideas and preferences for features on mobile phone apps.

  • One to one discussion
  • Influence

This project aims to inform the development of a mobile phone application that will encourage health and well-being by keeping users active. The project aims to support research and development of both the technical and commercial aspects of the service.

The information gathered will help the provider make an informed choice so that the end-product meets user expectations and delivers tangible value.

Volunteer Criteria

You must be aged over 50 to take part.

What will I be asked to do?

You will meet with the researcher to discuss well-being and exercising-related mobile phone apps. You will be asked about your preferences related to app features. You will also be asked about your preferences when it comes to service provision (e.g. pricing, mode/frequency of payment etc.) No actual exercising or physical activity will be required.

The discussion will last approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour.

When and where?

An appointment will be arranged between you and the researcher for a time that is convenient for you.

It will take place at Newcastle University Business School.

Will I get anything for taking part?

Refreshments will be provided.

Always interested in an aid to encourage regular exercise.

I have a history of enthusiastic engagement however lose my momentum. Sometimes through minor injury or just move to alternative activity, then stop.

I exercise at our local gym our mornings per week and I can't remember seeing any elderly/old person using an App.

The only people who I see using an App are the young(20s - 30s).

However I shall volunteer for this on the chance that I will get a coffee & biscuit - lol.
