An opportunity to sit on a judging panel assessing student solutions to real-life problems
The role of the Entrepreneurial Development Unit (EDU), Careers Service at Newcastle University is to enhance the enterprise skills and entrepreneurial learning of students. This is delivered through curricular and extra-curricular teaching interventions. As part of co-curricular activity, EDU co-deliver Enterprise Challenges with schools across different faculties. This involves multi-disciplinary (mixed schools) student teams working on a real-life problem/issue set by an external organisation, and working on a solution, which they will present to a panel. The main benefits for students include enhanced enterprise skills and business acumen, demonstrable sector awareness, multi-disciplinary working and employer engagement.
The theme for the proposed Enterprise Challenge (which the students are not aware of yet) is Ageing and Nutrition, and will involve students from the following undergraduate schools: Biomedicine, Dentistry, Medicine, Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering (postgraduate).
