An opportunity to share your views on electronic patient communications.

A patient portal is a secure online website that gives patients convenient 24-hour access to their personal health information from anywhere with an Internet connection.  There is now significant literature about how healthcare providers around the world are implementing this form of electronic patient communication.  It is claimed that implementing a patient portal can improve patient outcomes by enhancing patient-provider communication, empowering patients and supporting care before and after visits.

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is now looking at how these electronic patient communications would benefit patients and we are keen to understand:

-      If patients would use a portal

-      What services they would like to see on offer

-      What issues need to be considered
